Robert Andrew's roots extend back to the 1960s as a chain of nine
traditional beauty parlors operating under the name Robert Andrew
Hairstyling. They were niched as upscale neighborhood salons
servicing clients at that time with rollersets only. As the beauty
industry became more demanding, Owner/CEO Robert Andrew
Zupko released all but one of the salons, then named Robert Andrew
Hair-Skin-Nails. Many years later, Bob and his daughter Melissa
Eppinger, now CFO and co-owner of Robert Andrew, realized that
their facility simply could no longer accommodate all of their clients'
needs, which included more skin care and spa services, such as
massages, body treatments and hydrotherapy.

In 1996, after more than twenty years in business, Robert Andrew Hair-Skin-Nails became the Robert Andrew
DaySpa Salon, a 7,000 square foot facility that could better service the needs of their clientele. The expansion
from salon to dayspa salon brought Robert Andrew unprecedented success as one of the very first "true"
dayspa salons in the United States. In 1997, Modern Salon Magazine honored the Robert Andrew DaySpa
Salon with one of the most prestigious awards in the beauty industry - “The 1997 Modern Salon of the Year.”
For four consecutive years they have been named one of the 'Top 200 Salons In North America' by Salon
Today Magazine. Their goal is to be the premier dayspa salon on the East Coast.

summer of 2002, the newest 22,000 square foot, Tuscan-themed salon
and spa was opened. Centrally located between Washington D.C., Annapolis and Baltimore, Robert Andrew draws an affluent

Soon after the opening of the Robert Andrew Spa, focus went to
filling another niche in the community and Rush! Express Salon & Spa
Bar was created and housed in the former facility a mile down the
road. Rush! was aimed at the “young and the young at heart” and
included high-powered tanning beds and the latest trends in
nails, skin and hair services - all with a play on names. In the 3
years that Rush! operated, it won numerous design and concept
awards tthe industry. Times were changing, however, and to
keep up with the needs of their clients, Robert Andrew made yet
another change and Rush! Salon was converted into the new Robert
Andrew Medical Spa in the summer of 2006. This state-of-the-art
facility focuses on advanced aesthetics, laser treatments and medical
massage. Also at this location - but in a separate facility - is RAI Studio Salon. RAI
combines a less formal atmosphere with a more contemporary decor, and specializes in advanced, specialty
and multi-textured hair services, along with express and UV-free tanning.

Though Bob has turned operational responsibilities over to his management team, he sees still more growth in
Robert Andrew’s future. As quoted in Baltimore CEO Magazine, “Any time someone asks me what I attribute
my success to, I say ‘blah, blah, blah,” and luck. You make your own luck but many people can spot the
opportunities that go with it.”
